Last Saturday, December 14th was the Community of Hope Christmas Party! A celebration of community and the many gifts of the season, it was well attended by many of our families as well as member of the Board of Directors. A potluck meal was provided, while bites of food were mixed with visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Throughout my professional life, whether educating college students, counseling children and families, or now helping homeless families secure and stay in housing I have noticed a common theme: the more meaningfully connected a person is to others, the more likely they will have successful outcomes.
Here at Community of Hope, we are blessed to have many positive connections throughout Brevard County. Never was that more apparent than at our annual Gala, held at the Hilton Rialto. Members of the community and representatives from organizations far and wide came to support our mission and celebrate the many different ways we have worked together to touch the lives of countless families in need. Greg Pallone was the Master of Ceremonies, curating the event with charisma and aplomb. Read More
We are pleased to announce that Community of Hope’s application on behalf of Camp Hope for funds through HUD’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) was accepted! The money will go towards this coming year’s Camp Hope programming, which begins its first session in December.
The CDBG’s primary objective is to provide help the community through housing, education, and revitalization programming. The initiatives should benefit low to moderately incomed families and individuals, with the purpose of providing services and opportunities that would not otherwise available to them. In supporting the most vulnerable members of our community, they support the community as a whole.
We are excited to announce that our Safe Overnight Stay (S.O.S) Program, a partnership with the Brevard Homeless Coalition, Inc, has received a wonderful donation from Hope for North Brevard, Inc as part of their 40 Days of Generosity campaign, where the City of Titusville’s community came together to make a difference for their citizens.
We are always looking to build connections within the
community. These networking opportunities not only provide support for the
programming that we offer, but allow us both organizations to grow stronger in
their commitment to the people they serve. Boeing generously stepped up when we were looking for a way to continue our S.O.S program…
The kids of CAMP HOPE got to have a world-wide adventure at the Gaylord Palms ICE! Experience, closing out our inaugural week of camp. The theme was Christmas Around the World with sculptures made completely out of ice- over two million pounds of it!
Now that the tides of Hurricane Irma are fading away, and the following year’s storm Michael has past we are still working on Hope Village. As we are in the repair phase of recovery, we are finding that we have been, by and large, very fortunate…
We were able to get an SBA loan for repairs. It took almost a year to get the roofs replaced. Today we are doing some hurricane hardening and replacing windows and doors since some were damaged. We hope to be better prepared this hurricane season.
