Last Saturday, December 14th was the Community of Hope Christmas Party! A celebration of community and the many gifts of the season, it was well attended by many of our families as well as member of the Board of Directors. A potluck meal was provided, while bites of food were mixed with visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
There were games and activities for all ages, although the favorite was a massive (Florida) snowball fight graciously provided by Ace Hardware in Indalantic. Adults and kids alike got in on the fun, with our Executive Director Drew Warren taking heavy snowball fire for a giggling host hiding behind palm trees.
Families also had an opportunity to take a swing at a Christmas Star piñata- the rewards being split between all of the kids involved. All in all, it was a time of togetherness for our community and remembrance of the reason for the season.
We have had many blessings this year- from movement on our build of nine units in Titusville to many families through both our longer-term housing Permanent Supportive and Transitional Housing Programs and our emergency shelter program, Safe Overnight Stay (or SOS). We’ve had fantastic additions to our team, and the pleasure of being involved with a multitude of initiatives throughout Brevard County. All of this, and in two weeks our second year of Camp Hope takes wing with a campers from around the county. None of this would be possible without you- you are an integral part of our community and without you none of this would be possible.
Here at Community of Hope we have a great deal to be thankful for, but it is the essence of the Christmas season for which we give the most thanks. So from our family to your, we are wishing you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and wonderful New Year!
